WCW Ref Counts Pins Without Anyone Actually Being Pinned.

On the June 6th 2000 edition of Monday Nitro, Kevin Nash took on The New Blood in a gauntlet match. The stipulation was that if anyone from The New Blood defeated Kevin Nash he would lose his title shot at The Great American Bash. The stipulation was also that if anyone from interfered in the match on Nash’s behalf he would lose his title shot at the Great American Bash.

Kevin Nash pinned Disco Inferno with a side slam seconds after the match officially began. Chris Candido came in second and Kevin Nash quickly jackknife power bombed him while Johnny The Bull ran in. For whatever reason, and to the confusion of everyone in attendance including the announce team, the referee started to count out Chris Candido despite the fact that Kevin Nash wasn’t even pinning him. Kevin delivered a power bomb on Johnny The Bull and the referee once again started counting while Kevin wasn’t even pinning him. This would happen one more time and the rest of The New Blood would rush the ring and Kevin Nash.

Goldberg then came down to the ring, making his return, destroying the rest of The New Blood in the process. The match ended without any official ruling. Despite the fact that the stipulation was that if anyone interfered on Nash’s part he would lose his title shot, he still received his title shot at The Great American Bash that coming Sunday.
