Owen Hart gives Steve Austin a stinger..

On August 3 during WWF's Summerslam 97', "Stone Cold" Steve Austin took on his Owen Hart for the Intercontinental Title. The stipulation of the match was if Austin won, he would get the title, but if Owen won, Austin would have to kiss his ass.

During one of Owen's signature moves the Hart Driver, Austin's head slipped dangerously low during the move causing all of his weight to come crashing down on his neck. Owen immediately could tell something went wrong and that Austin was hurt. He played heel to the crowd for a few minutes hopefully allowing Austin time to gather his strength. After being paralyzed for a short time, Austin recovered and was able to win the match with a weakened one-arm pin and the belt as originally intended.

Austin was kept out a wrestling role while surgery and rehab took place, but still kept appearing on WWE television. The stinger was one of the most highly documented wrestling injuries in the WWE, which of course was then twisted into an angle.

At the Survivor Series 1997 PPV, Austin again challenged Owen for the belt only to have his opponent wear a shirt the read "Owen 3:16" and the back said "I Just Broke Your Neck", which was a direct reference to Austin's signature catch phrase.

After all was said and done, Stone Cold did not hold a grudge against "The Rocket" Owen Hart in regards to the injury.
