Roddy Piper Shoots On And Assaults Vince Russo.

During a pay-per-view episode of TNA Impact in 2002, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper showed up unexpectedly with one goal in mind: to verbally degrade TNA lead writer and booker Vince Russo for some of his actions during his stint as a WWE booker and some of his, then, current actions in TNA.

Piper already had bad feelings towards Russo because he blamed Owen Harts tragic death in the WWE on Russo who was the one booking the Blue Blazer angle during that time. The bad feelings didn't stop there as the two men would meet down the road during Russo and Piper's stay in the dying days of WCW. So by the time Piper made it to TNA to promote his book "In The Pit With Piper", the Rowdy one had plenty to vent to the fans, and especially towards Russo.

Piper started his interview basically by saying how Vince Russo had bankrupted every company that he has ever been associated with, and now he was doing it to TNA. He said that if Russo continued to be a part of the wrestling business, he was going to kill it, if he hadn't killed it already. Piper stated that Vince Russo doesn't know squat about the wrestling business and he showcases more "entertainment" than athleticism in the ring. All these comments and others went on for about 12 minutes until Russo showed up to the ring. He slid inside and stood in the corner with a, as Piper put it, "smug" look on his face.

The two men exchanged some very brief words and after Russo called Piper a moron, Piper lost his cool and slapped Russo upside the head. Russo didn't respond back at all with either words nor physicality. Piper than began to ask Russo questions about how he "killed Owen Hart" and how he ran WCW into the ground so badly. About that time, the Harris Brothers came to the ring, not even acknowledging Piper, and seemed to be telling Russo to just let it go and leave the ring. Russo then started acting tough and kept trying to get to Piper as the Harris Brothers held him back.

Piper ended the interview by saying he would be watching TNA and that Russo "shouldn't throw rocks at a guy whose got a machine gun" subliminally plugging his hit movie THEY. Piper signaled Russo to kiss his ass, said his goodbyes to the crowd, and left the arena.

Ironically enough, even though Piper publicly bashed and assaulted Vince Russo, he returned to TNA in 2004 to do several "Piper Pit" interviews with TNA talent, and no word of this incident was ever brought up.
