Sabu tears his bicep with barbed-wire.

On August 9, 1997, ECW scheduled an event based around one match. The event was ECW's Born to be Wired. The match: ECW World Champion Terry Funk vs. Sabu in a barbed-wire match.

Now, even in a barbed-wire match where the wrestlers are expected to bleed, most would try to protect each other as much as possible, even though it looks like they're trying to kill each other. WCW even took it a step further when they started using fake wire. Unfortunately for Sabu, the barbed-wire ECW used was not the rubber-tipped "barbed-wire" WCW used in the 90's to 2001.

During the match, Sabu did one of his typical moves. He put an opponent in the corner of the ring, set up a chair near that opponent, run to the opposite side of the ring, charge, jump off the chair, and splash the opponent in the corner. Everything happened except that last part. Instead, Sabu caught a bicep full of barbed-wire and another scar to add to his body. You can see the severity of the cut in the video. Sabu taped up his arm for the remainder of the match and afterwards, closed the wound with crazy glue!

Sabu went on to say on Forever Hardcore that the little spots him and Funk had planned for the match were thrown out the window after that. The match ended abruptly when Funk and Sabu got tied up and stuck together in the barbed-wire. Sabu pinned Funk, whose right shoulder wasn't even down, because Funk was struggling to breathe due to wire wrapped around his throat.
