Rick Rude appears on Raw & Nitro on the same night.

On November 17, 1997, the nWo made their way to the ring to cut interviews on current subjects involving the group during WCW Nitro. When Eric Bischoff grabbed the mic, he promised to deliver a surprise.

He introduced "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, which was nothing unusual, until Hogan, while making his way to the ring, pointed back at the entrance way. The man he was pointing to was Rick Rude.

Rude was, at the time, a free agent in the wrestling business as he was not only D-Generation X's "insurance policy" in WWF, but also Joey Styles weekly commentator on ECW Hardcore TV. This was not a problem due to WWF and ECW's relationship.

However, all that changed when Vince McMahon had screwed Bret Hart of his WWF title at the November 16 Survivor Series just 24 hours earlier. Rude, even though involved with Shawn Michaels and Triple H in the storylines, was unaware of their plans to get the title from Hart. Rude, along with several other WWF employees, left the company in protest of McMahon's actions.

The next night on a live WCW Nitro, a clean-shaven Rude made his way to the ring and aligned himself with the nWo, cutting a shoot promo on Vince McMahon and the WWF. He defended Bret Hart and spoke on the "rights and wrongs in the world of professional wrestling."
One hour later on WWF's War Zone, Rick Rude, with a full beard, introduced D-Generation X to the ring.

This was all due to WWF's Raw program being taped weeks earlier competing with WCW's live Nitro. Bischoff took full advantage of this and was one of the initial reasons why WWF Raw became a live show.
