Kevin Nash is disqualified in a No DQ Match. On February 26, 1998, during a WCW Thunder broadcast, Raven (w/ the Flock) took on Kevin Nash in a "Raven's Rules" (no disqualification) Battle Royale match. A month earlier at nWo's Souled Out, Kevin Nash had botched his jackknife power bomb on the Giant which inadvertently created a storyline where WCW Commissioner J.J. Dillion would make the power bomb illegal, citing it was too dangerous (which WCW fans hated and booed J.J. almost out of the building when he announced it on the following night's Nitro). For every time any wrestler performed a variation of the power bomb, they would be fined $50,000. So during the Raven/Nash match on Thunder, Raven's Flock began attacking Nash one-by-one while Raven sat in the corner. Nash quickly eliminated Scotty Rigs, Billy Kidman, Van Hammer, and Sickboy leaving only Saturn standing next to Raven in the corner and a defenseless Lodi. Nash then proceeded to use his jackknife power bomb on Lodi which caused, for some reason, for him to be disqualified even though the match was under no disqualification rules. On an interesting side note, after Nash had power bombed Lodi the first time, Schiavone stated that Nash's fines had now ranked up to $300,000. When Nash power bombed Lodi a second time, Schiavone stated... "If you're keeping count at home, that's $355,000 dollars!" ...adding an extra $5,000 in there. Obviously, Schiavone had not been keeping count at home or in the last 10 seconds. |
