Shawn Michaels nearly ends his career in casket match. At the 1998 Royal Rumble, which took place on January 18, 1998 at the San Jose Arena in San Jose, California, Shawn Michaels took on the Undertaker in a Casket Match. At one point, early on in the match, the Undertaker gave Michaels a backdrop out of the ring. Shawn fell a little too short on the fall causing the lower part of his back to slam against the edge of the casket. Shawn herniated two discs in his spine and completely crushing another. This injury forced Shawn to retire for a total of four years, during which he still made many onscreen appearances and was able to keep his wrestling school going. Shawn returned to an active wrestling role in 2002.. |
