Antonio Inoki Shoots On The Great Antonio Out Of Retaliation. On December 8, 1977, in Japan, Antonio Inoki took on The Great Antonio in a one-fall match. Less than two minutes into the match, after a slow start, things took a major turn for the worst. The problems began when The Great Antonio began no-selling Inoki's defense and offence. On top of his no-selling, the Great Antonio began legitimately hitting Inoki on the back and head. Inoki finally had enough and began to stomp The Great Antonio into a bloody mess, literally. After taking the big man down, Inoki began to violently kick Antonio in the face and head. When Antonio tried to stand back up, Inoki took him back down and finished his attack. The referee stopped the match after Antonio quit defending himself and was left at the mercy of Inoki. Inoki was declared the winner, but would not leave the ring for some time as he waited for Antonio to stand up. When he did, he showed the crowd and cameras the extent of his beating. The Great Antonio's face and head was smothered in his own blood from the kicks of Inoki. |
