David Schultz slaps 20/20's John Stossel.

In 1984, 20/20's Emmy-award winning reporter John Stossel was interviewing David Schultz, a WWF professional wrestler. Stossel's reports were genuinely known for exposing untruths in all types of businesses. This time, he chose to target professional wrestling.

Mistake.

Various reports and wrestling publicist claim head officials of WWF told Schultz that if Stossel insulted the sport, that Schultz should show retaliation.

When Stossel told Schultz "I think it's fake...", Schultz responded yelling "You think it's fake?", slapping him twice and knocking him to the ground as well as causing hearing loss. Stossel sued the WWF, claiming long-term injury as a result of the assault and won a $400,000 settlement.

Schultz was fired, but he still maintains that he was ordered to attack Stossel by representatives of the WWF.

There is speculation that Schultz was fired for not slapping Stossel, but for challenging Mr. T to a fight backstage at a WWF event days later.
