Ric Flair shoots on Eric Bischoff live on Nitro. In April of 1998, WCW was using a method of booking shows a few days, sometimes even hours, before they filmed. So they would fly every member of the promotion out so they wouldn't be restricted when writing the show. Ric Flair, who had not been used on tv for some time, was given 3 days notice that he would be on the next upcoming show. Flair however had given advanced notice that he would be attending his son Reid's Greco Roman Wrestling Tournament. Flair ignored the unexpected call to television and went to the tournament (which Reid ended up winning). Angry that Flair didn't show up, Eric Bischoff, the president of WCW, suspended Flair. Flair wouldn't return until 5 months later on September 14, in Greenville, South Carolina when Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Dean Malenko, Chris Beniot, and himself reformed the Four Horsemen. Flair came out and thanked the fans who cheered generously and graciously at "The Nature Boy." Then would go on to shoot on Bischoff. Bischoff came out and started walking towards the ring to defend himself & put a stop to Flair's comments. The two got into a shouting match until the show abruptly went to a commercial. |
