Hayabusa breaks his neck.

On October 22, 2001, during a pay-per-view match with Mammoth Sasaki, Japanese wrestling legend Hayabusa attempted a second rope moonsault . His feet slipped while the rest of his body kept moving in the motion of the moonsault.

The result was Hayabusa landing on his head backwards and paralyzing himself. Many feared he would never walk again. The owner of the company came out afterwards and gave a very saddened explanation to the fans as to what happened.

Fortunately, Hayabusa is able to walk now but hasn't wrestled since. He's actually a singer and still plans to return to wrestling to have one last goodbye match.
