Shawn Michaels removes security off special olympian. On June 9, 1997, during Shawn Michaels & Steve Austin's King of the Ring match, a special olympian who was an apparent huge "Heartbreak Kid" fan, jumped the guardrail after "Stone Cold" had got the upper hand in the match. When the fan jumped the rail and was caught by a security guard, he started struggling which caused more security guards to pick him up. His mom jumped the rail and on-camera appears to be arguing with security. By this time, both Austin and Michaels noticed what was happening. Austin was telling the referee what to do about the situation while Michaels power-walked over to the security and told them to let the boy go. After a few seconds, Austin went on the attack playing the heel moniker to Michaels improved kindness to the olympian. After some quick spots and flipping off Steve Austin, Shawn returned to the fan and finally just told security to leave the boy alone. Shawn, along with fan, had some exchange of words with the referee and started walking backstage. After the whole ordeal, the poor fan managed to trip over a camera-man's cord laying across the entrance way. He got angry and then tried to wave the camera man off. He moved the cord before leaving off camera with his mother. Shawn Michaels walked back to the ring with an applause from the crowd. |
