Fan attacks Shane Douglas with a chair.

On December 7, 1996, Tommy Dreamer & Beulah McGuillicutty took on Shane Douglas & Francine in an Intergender tag-team match at the ECW Arena.

Dreamer and Douglas did most of the wrestling (and brawling) as expected. They ended up on the outside with Douglas knocking Dreamer over the guardrail into the first row. It was there that a fan gave Douglas his crutch to use as a weapon on Dreamer, not an uncommon thing to see in ECW.

However, after Douglas was done choking Dreamer with the crutch, he began exchanging words with a very angry-looking fan. While it's not known what the two said to each other, what is known is the fan exploded on Douglas, and maybe rightfully so. Douglas did take the first swing at the fan but made no contact. The fan responded by picking up a chair and taking a very hard swing at The Franchise. Regardless, the cardinal rule of being a wrestling fan is never get involved with the action unless the wrestler permits you too.

Douglas fired back at the fan and got a few punches in before ECW security grabbed the fan and removed him from the building. That put a stop to Douglas and Dreamer fighting in the crowd and the two men quickly returned to the ring.
