Shane Douglas ensues riot at the ECW Arena.

On April 1st, 1997 at the ECW Arena, during a match between Shane Douglas and Pitbull #2 Anthony Durante, all hell broke loose.

At one point in the match when Doulgas had the upper hand, he began taunting Pitbull #2 and his partner Gary Wolfe, who had been injured by Douglas weeks before. Douglas had broke the neck of Gary Wolfe with a single-arm DDT. The injury resulted in Wolfe having to wear a halo for the next few months.

Combine that, with his utter frustration with Douglas, and the tension had reached a boiling point at the Arena. When Wolfe entered the ring (unplanned) to confront Douglas, Douglas did the unthinkable and grabbed Wolfe by the halo and began shaking him back and forth before tossing him to the ground.

After that, it was pure anarchy. Several ECW employees from Todd Gordon & Paul Heyman all the way down to camera men stormed the ring to protect Wolfe. This, of course, was all planned.

What wasn't planned was when the entire ring was swarming with ECW staff, several fans in the audience decided to jump the rail as well, some even attacking Douglas themselves. Douglas was rushed out of the arena quickly as the fans were told to go back over the guardrail or were held down by ECW security. .
