Carlito fails to catch Shelton Benjamin's plancha. On the June 20, 2005 edition of RAW, Shelton Benjamin defended his Intercontinental title against Carlito. The match was going fine until Carlito found himself on the floor and Benjamin decided to take a risk. It didn’t pay off. Benjamin ran at the ropes and dived over them. The first problem was that both his left and right knees grazed the ropes, slowing his momentum. It also appeared that his right foot hit the rope. As a result, he did not make a full forward flip rotation and instead, kind of cart wheeled in midair. That wasn’t the end of it, though. The other problem was that Carlito wasn’t in the right position to catch him. The result was Benjamin slamming back-first on the floor in a sickening thud. He stuck out his right arm to try to break the fall but that didn’t help, and it appeared that his left elbow also connected with the floor hard. |
